The apron

Image
So I received my first order from my nan - to make an apron... so I decided to have a go.... here it is!  so I went a bit rogue and just copied my existing apron - pinned it to the fabric I was going to use and then cur out thr material, pressed it and then hemmed it. I then realised I needed the neck piece and ties so cut those out, pressed and sewed the together - trying to push the fabric back through was very difficult and I need to but a gadget for that! material to compliment the red - cherries! Seemed the ends together and then included it in my hemming And voila! a few dodgy bits, but not bad for a first attempt! fluffed it and this is at the top so a bit noticeable.... a bit too close to the edge! much better!  next it was time to tackle the pocket.  The fabrics worked really well together   ...

Inspo!

My Pinterest inspiration My Pinterest board of ideas.... just got to remember that I am a novice and to not get ahead of myself!

experimenting again

I have had a free, quiet afternoon which I have made the most of!  I cut out 2 piece of fabric again, measured, properly pinned together and it has been much more successful this time!   Better stitching and better hemming!  Going to see if we can make 2 puppets now!

Gone mad

I MAY HAVE GONE A BIT MAD WITH BUYING FABRICS.... AND I OFFICIALLY LOVE HABERDASHERY!  can't wait for the orders to arrive and first up, is an apron requested from my nan....!

practice makes perfect?

Image
So today I got hold of a couple of old t-shirts, cut then up and tried to practice a few stitches Deffo need more practice! Then hubby had to have a go.... Next step, I took 2 piece of material and tried sewing them together... not too bad  considering I didn't measure or use pins... Might fashion this into a puppet...??

Wind the bobbin up!

Well this is just wizardry that I don't have the patience for!   Sussed it in the end though!

The birthday present!

Image
So for my 35th (!) Birthday I received a sewing machine!  I had asked for it - only being able to sew on a button, the odd badge from being a girl guide and hemming my trousers (badly), I wanted to improve my sewing skills!  I remember being denied the opportunity to use on in school as we had naughty kids - you would leave instructions for the teacher on how to make your drawstring bag or tie die pillow. The opportunities are endless and the creative juices are flowing... I can't wait to get creative! So here it is... in all its glory!
